We are about to embark on one of the most exciting journeys we have ever planned. From our home to Mauritius the route leads us first to Kuala Lumpur, before we start our real adventure: a four-week journey across China - from the imperial city of Beijing to the futuristic skyline of Hong Kong.

All in all, our trip will Last 33 days, us through more than 20 cities and regions and about 28,000 kilometres route. We will be travelling by plane, high-speed trains, cars and even a cruise ship on the Yangtze River be on the road.  


Start in Kuala Lumpur

The first section takes us from Mauritius to Kuala Lumpur. Not entirely voluntarily, because we actually wanted to travel via Dubai, thanks to Trump, we are now allowed to stay in KL for a while to get in the mood for the trip and enjoy the skyline of the Malaysian capital with the famous Petronas Twin Towers to experience. We've been here before, but it's always fascinating to see how things work here. Not to forget, you can socialise so beautifully with Dumplings stuff your face.

From there it continues to Beijing, where our great China route begins.


From Beijing to the heart of Chinese history

The journey starts in the Chinese capital Beijing. There we will visit some of the most famous places in the country:

  • the Tiananmen Square
  • the Forbidden City
  • the Summer palace
  • and of course the Great Wall near Mutianyu

After several days in Beijing, we take the High-speed train to Xi'an, where one of the most impressive archaeological wonders of the world awaits us: the Terracotta army.


Up high: Tibet

From Xi'an we fly on to Lhasa, the capital of Tibet, to over 3 650 metres altitude.

There we will see, among other things:

  • the majestic Potala Palace
  • the holy Jokhang Temple
  • traditional monasteries such as Drepung and Sera

Afterwards, a spectacular drive through the Tibetan mountains takes us across the sacred lake Yamdrok Tso to Shigatse.


Pandas, mountains and megacities

After Tibet, we head back down to Chengdu, where we can see the famous Giant pandas will visit.

From there, the route continues to:

  • the giant Buddha statue of Leshan
  • the holy mountain Mount Emei
  • and then to the futuristic metropolis of Chongqing.

Yangtze cruise

In Chongqing, we board a cruise ship and spend several days travelling along the Yangtze River through the spectacular Three Gorges.

During this river cruise we experience:

  • the gorges Qutang Gorge and Wu Gorge
  • the tributary Shennv Stream
  • and finally the gigantic Three Gorges Dam Project.

Avatar landscapes in Zhangjiajie

After the river trip, the route takes us to Zhangjiajie, where one of the most spectacular landscapes in China is located.

The up to 200 metre high rock needles of the Zhangjiajie National Park served as inspiration for the floating mountains in the film Avatar. Here we will visit, among other things:

  • Yuanjiajie
  • Tianzi Mountain
  • the Bailong Elevator
  • the Tianmen Mountain with its glass skywalk.

Modern metropolises and classic gardens

We then travel by high-speed train to Shanghai, the largest city in China.

Awaiting us there:

  • the Shanghai Tower
  • the historical Covenant
  • the shopping street Nanjing Road
  • and the classic Yuyuan Garden.

From Shanghai, the journey continues to the famous garden city of Suzhou and then to the historic water town Tongli.


The legendary Huangshan Mountains

One of the scenic highlights of our trip will be a visit to the Yellow Mountains (Huangshan) be.

These mountains are famous for:

  • Bizarre granite peaks
  • wind moulded pines
  • Seas of fog
  • spectacular sunrises.

We will even One night directly on the mountain spend.


West Lake and karst landscapes

The route then leads to Hangzhou, where we took a boat trip on the famous West Lake company.

We then fly to Guilin, from where we have a River cruise on the Li River to Yangshuo one of the most beautiful landscapes in China with spectacular karst mountains.

Another highlight will be the impressive Longji rice terraces be.


Final in Hong Kong

Finally, we will travel by high-speed train to Hong Kong.

We spend several days here, exploring the city on a private tour and enjoying the view from the Victoria Peakabout the famous Victoria Harbour.

We spend the last night in the legendary Peninsula Hotel, before travelling via Kuala Lumpur back to Mauritius goes.
