Bang... the American has poured us a special tea again.
We booked a flight with Emirates via Dubai to Beijing last year. The current situation has forced us to compare our options.
What if the airport in Dubai remains closed? Is there an alternative from Mauritius? Google and other little helpers will give you the wildest routes. So we have to look again, the Turkish airline takes the cake in terms of price, they want 3500 chf for economy, they have already adjusted the prices to the situation. After a lot of back and forth, should we book an alternative at all, should we wait and see... One night of rather mixed fortunes later, it was clear that we needed insurance. The only reasonable alternative is Air Mauritius via Kuala Lumpur and then there are connections with almost all Asian airlines to Beijing. The conditions of Air Mauritius for rebooking are very reasonable, 25 chf and the flight must be booked by February 27. We are taking this risk. If we don't need the flight and can fly via Dubai without any problems, we will rebook the flight for the end of January and then take a trip to Cambodia, Vietnam and Laos next year.
Now we have to keep our fingers crossed, it remains exciting and there are only 23 days left until 26 March. To be continued...

Update 6.3.26

So, we have decided! We will not fly with Emirates via Dubai, but via Kuala Lumpur. We have applied for a refund for the flight via Dubai. Now we can fly relaxed via KL and not via a crisis region. Thank you Mr Trump, that was another great idea, I thought the nuclear facilities had already been destroyed, why this now? Luckily we have a plan B that still needs to be finalised.
