It\u2019s about a 5-hour drive from Blenheim on the east coast to Greymouth on the west coast, including the two places we still wanted to visit, so we set off first thing in the morning. The weather is perfect, there\u2019s no traffic and we\u2019re making good progress. There are lots of single-lane bridges in New Zealand, but it\u2019s all fine. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

We make our first stop at Maruia Falls, which looks a bit like the Rhine Falls in Schaffhausen.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

We carry on along winding roads to the west coast and from there to the Pancake Rocks \u2013 and yes, they do look a bit like stacked pancakes. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Greymouth is a compact town; the local brewery serves good food. Our accommodation has a sea view and is in a quiet spot just outside the town centre.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
