Today we booked Raj for a day trip. The South Tour was on the programme. There was a lot to see: The ship models in Vacoas, and right after that a rum tasting at 9.30 am which lifts the spirits for the whole day. The Tamarin waterfall and a volcanic crater in Curepipe. The impressive Ganga Talao temple in Savannah. After lunch we continued to the Chamarel Waterfall and the 7 Coloured Earth. The viewpoint on the way home was a nice ending.

Hisotic Marine Workshop. Here, historical ships are recreated in filigree handicraft. Great works of art that need a special place.

Rum tasting was good. The 20 year old single cask was great. A price comparison showed that it is sold overpriced (+100%).

Volcano crater Trou-aux-Cerfs. Red pepper blossoms.

Tamarin Falls

On the Grand Bassin in the mountains is the Ganga Talao temple. Monks are said to have brought water from the Ganges to the holy lake. It is a huge complex. In the next few days there will be a huge festival with 300,000 visitors, some of whom will make the pilgrimage on foot, the road has 6 lanes and there are thousands of parking spaces. It was an impressive experience, it smelled of incense sticks, there was prayer, the women are the bosses, the men have to do as they are told. Everything was quiet and peaceful.

So now it's time for a break at the Saveur Tropical restaurant, where we had fish in banana leaves and chicken.

Well fortified, we continue to Chamarel to the main attractions of the area. The Chamarel waterfall and the 7 coloured earth. Everything is very well organised, and there are always a lot of tourists here. Arabica coffee is also grown here and offered in the café. It was good and also necessary.

Chamarel Waterfall The water falls 100 metres into the depths.

The 7 coloured earth in Chamarel, a natural spectacle beautifully staged.

There are also giant tortoises to marvel at, clearly having fun.

At the end of an eventful day, we are presented with the wonderful view of the coast.

Thank you Raj Gopaul for a wonderful day with you.
