On the way to Napier we saw what the typhoon did in February, there are many destroyed houses and cultures in the plain in front of Napier. At the mandarin farm we get a bag of fresh tangerines, they taste really good.
Napier greets us with rainy weather, we go out for Indonesian food again. Nasi Lemak just great.
Art Deco in Napier
It has rained all night and is slowly opening up, so off to the city. We have the accommodation in a small house on the hill and walk the few minutes to the city.
Napier is known for the Art Deco buildings in the city. After the earthquake of 1931, the city had to be rebuilt, which left the earthquake standing, took away the fire. At that time, Art Deco was very modern and the buildings have been preserved to this day and are under protection. We join the tour and do not regret it, it was very impressive and we were also able to go inside the buildings.
