Rarotonga Island Life

Now we have been on the island for a few days and enjoy it. The island is really great, there is a bus, or rather two, one goes clockwise and the other against it. In about an hour you have traveled around the whole island. On Saturday there is always a big market day in the city. City is a bit exaggerated. Sylvia was at the hairdresser, who come from Fiji turned out quite well and we went snorkeling and diving.
Snorkeling is right outside the front door and the diving is also good, but we are spoiled.
Turtles, reef fish, huge hard corals, a school of eagle rays and much more could be seen. The passages are also impressive, these are gaps in the reef, you can drive out of them, the waves were up to 3 meters high, Sylvia’s inner ear didn’t like it quite so much.

Market Day

We take the bus, which stops when you wave because it’s market day, it’s well filled.

The food is very good on Rarotonga

We are sometimes out or cook in our accommodation, the ingredients are fresh and come from the garden of the supermarket, which is only a few steps away and the beef is top from New Zealand.

Sylvia’s new socks…

are based on the colors of the hibiscus flower and Markus had to prove himself as a wool holder.

Snorkeling

This goes directly from the beach, wonderfully clear water and always something to see.

Our accommodation(s)

Diving

The diving was impressive, it has a bit of everything, huge hard corals, eagle rays, a wreck at 3-5 meters and much more. The visibility was not so great so no photos. And yes we had to do at least 5 dives so that we could get on the boat in Australia. At the beginning of September we dive on the Great Barrier Reef, we are really looking forward to it.

Beach Walk

Now we are on the island until July 19th and then fly to Auckland and then on to Melbourne. From there we explore the east coast and drive to various stops until we rent a houseboat in Mallacoota, then we continue to the Blue Mountains until we stay in Sydney for 10 days.
