The Cape offers some circular routes and we have decided on the longer one, fully motivated we go to work. The path leads over the long beach of Woolamai Surf Beach and then goes up a staircase to the Pinnacles Lookout. Impressive limestone rocks standing in the surf. We have wonderful weather, in our backpack we have sourdough baguette with ham and cheese with us. We continue to the Cape Woolamai Beacon, the highest point. Now we could decide how to continue, the shorter way or back on the opposite beach. We take the path at the beach, the sign says only at low tide, which we don’t really notice, the beach is nice and wide at the beginning and no water in sight. After about two kilometers completely different, we have to take off our shoes, but still don’t get to the path that leads back to the parking lot. Where Google shows the way back, it goes up a vertical dune. The way back also had too much water in the meantime, so back until we find a point where we can pull ourselves up on branches, then another 30 minutes cross-country through the bush until we are happily back on the ranger road. It was exhausting and impressive at the same time. We saw Kangaroo’s in the wild and were glad that we were back at the car without any major injuries.
