At the Holiday Park in Tumbling Wateres we chose a shady spot, before we drove to the nearby Berry Springs. Here there are three large natural pools in the middle of the rainforest. The water is wonderfully warm and still offers a welcome cooling. It is already very hot in the north with over 35°C in the dry season. The warning signs because of the crocodiles let you see the shore from a completely different angle. There were still other people in the water, which we had tended to estimate to be slower.
Fire Reports
We also always followed the fire reports. There is no fire in the whole north because the wind can spread the flames very quickly. On a page you can see the map with the current fires and what the status is at the moment. It was now always far away or already under control.
Lee Point Beach
In the morning we make our way towards Darwin, it is not very far and we make a cozy stop at Lee Point Beach in the north of Darwin. Deserted beach that is infinitely long. There are some shady picnic benches where we make our lunch stop before we drop off the camper.
The motorhome
It was a good experience with the motorhome around to curves, despite the tight space we didn’t get on each other’s nerves. It was practical that you always have everything with you and don’t have to pack and unpack all the time. Apart from the fact that you are not allowed to camp wild in the north in the places that can be reached by 2WD. With the powered sites on the campsites, which we always had except for two nights, it was also very comfortable and we could enjoy the air conditioning when it was too hot and there was no wind at all. The sanitary facilities on the campsites were well maintained, so everything was fine. Twice we had our own toilet / shower, which was also very pleasant.
