It's an hour's drive from Wãnaka to Queenstown, and the views of the mountains are not to be sneezed at. The resorts listed as ski areas are rather small by Swiss or Tyrolean standards.
We have a smooth flight to Auckland and are already at the hotel by midday. The weather is fine and we take a short walk into the city.

With the beautiful weather, we seize the opportunity and go up to the 60th floor of the Skytower. It's just sunset and with a little patience we can see the illuminated city centre.
The Depot restaurant serves good beer and a marrow bone from the wood-fired oven to give us a feeling of home. Best wishes to the Chrüzli team.
The brownie with marshmallow from the oven with vanilla ice cream was simply amazing. We head back to the hotel feeling satisfied. Charliy's restaurant tip was very good, but more on that tomorrow.
