It took us almost 5 hours to drive, we interrupted the journey at the Pukaha National Wildlife Centre and were shown around.
It was still dark when we set off, the sun only came up on the journey.

There was a great rainbow to see on the way.

Pukaha National Wildlife Centre
Birds and plants are exhibited here in a large wooded area covering over 900 hectares. There is also a kiwi breeding centre here.

The kiwi eggs are almost as big as the duck eggs, in the dark behind a pane of glass it was impossible to get them out, but there is a kiwi on them.

Long-finned eels, which are only found in New Zealand, are spoon-fed.
Remutaka Crossing Lookout
The road over Remutaka Hill winds its way up to 555 metres. At the viewpoint, which also commemorates the 60,000 soldiers who marched through here between 1915 and 1919, visibility is limited, but we have a good weather forecast for the next few days in Wellington.

Wellington Bay, tomorrow we explore the city.
Wow - you brought the beautiful weather to Wellington 🙂 .
Let's hope so, but it also has a large museum for the worst case scenario.
