Today the plan is to explore the landscape of the Li River on the 20 Yuen note, we have already seen the party headquarters in Beijing, which is depicted on the 100 note, and also the Potala Monastery in Lhasa on the 50 note, we have also seen the moonstones on the 1 note, only the area on the 5 note we have not seen.

The journey continues at 8 o'clock. The journey to the ship terminal takes just under an hour. The sun is shining and it should be nice and warm. And of course we are not alone again. Up to 5,000 tourists sail along the Li River every day. That's about 40 boats. But with this very good organisation, everything goes very quickly here. We sit comfortably on the 2nd floor together with a couple from the Philippines.

Today there's a proof photo for the travel agency on the ship.

The fantastic scenery was not long in coming. On the 3rd deck you have a great view. Really beautiful rock formations appear. Ma tells us about long noses reaching into the sky, sitting Buddhas, horses on a rock face... see for yourself. What a beautiful landscape, the sun is shining and it's getting warmer, simply marvellous.

Suddenly it gets nervous, the formation shown on the 20 yen note is about to appear.

For lunch there is a warm box with rice, maize, chicken and beef.

And so 3.5 hours pass and we arrive in Yangshuo. A city that lives 90% from tourism. There is no industry here. Lots of restaurants, bars and small shops. Sylvia finds a special handbag and again gets lots of inspiration for her next projects. We stroll through the pedestrianised zone and then head to the Yangshuo Tea Cozy Hotel.

It is situated outside the city in a quiet and picturesque location in the countryside with a view of the rice plantations. We were supposed to cycle for another 2-3 hours, but we decided to have a coffee on the terrace. We felt very comfortable and the atmosphere, including that of the staff, was simply wonderful. Our room on the 5th floor is tastefully furnished in a rustic style and has a balcony

A short evening walk in the rice fields before we go out for a bite to eat.

The food at the hotel is good and we have a cosy evening on the terrace. We even had a bottle of red wine from Chile, which was surprisingly good and not too expensive at around CHF 40. We already knew the cucumber salad from our Chinese restaurant in Belle Mare and it was also very good here.
