Is called by the Aborigines of the Noongar Wadjemup and is 18 km from the coast. We have booked a crossing and a bus tour. There are 5 big ships that unload the tourists and of course us on the island and then get carted around the island by bus. The rest ride their bikes on the island by the hundreds, only in Amsterdam there are more of them. It has beautiful beaches with turquoise water but also quite nice surf that gnaws at the limestone. There is not much vegetation, but many quokka’s (short-tailed kangaroos), about the size of rabbits, they are used to people and can be photographed well. The Italian restaurant was good and a change. The few accommodations on the island are sold out well in advance, so we couldn’t stay overnight. It was already dark when we arrived back in Perth.
