To anticipate it, it was a blast! In the preparation for the trip, the stadium kept popping up and then it happened that we visited the Football Derby. We drove to the stadium early because we had no idea how it would work there. So first a refreshment at The Camfield, a huge shed with live music, food and beer in all variations.
Now where are our seats? Everything is well signposted, the entrance control wants to know and looks carefully at what is brought. Then we go up 5 floors, of course with escalators now look for entrance 546 and we are there, we are among the first, but also wanted to enjoy the stadium atmosphere. Little by little the stadium fills up and about 10 minutes after the kick-off everyone is there.
Football… so Footy, well no plan how to do that, we studied the rules beforehand so that we weren’t completely clueless about what was going on.
Actually quite simple: kick, hit the ball further, bounce and catch.
Hit between the goal posts, preferably in the middle gives 6 points.
Much more interesting than the boring kicking in football. There’s always something going on and they don’t simulate because it’s no use. The referees keep the game fast, it’s really fun to watch.
Time flies and the 4/4 were already over.
Now something about the organization, you have to give that to the Australians, they are really very well organized. There is a barrier, there are free buses available, there is a train station, the e-scooter rental companies cart their devices in heaps near the stadium, no crowds, all very civilized. Never seen like this, neither in Switzerland nor anywhere else.
