Around Hyde Park

Today we go to Saint Mary’s Cathedral, Archibald Memorial Fountain, Hyde Park, Queen Victoria Building and then to the Sydney Tower Eye where we go to lofty heights. We pass Kings Cross and walk directly to the church.

Kings Cross

Saint Mary’s Cathedral

With a length of over 100m, it is also the longest church in Australia, and St. Peter’s Basilica in Rome is another 80m longer. An imposing building, we lit a candle for Sonja and Ralf.

Hyde Park

In Hyde Park there is also the Archibald Memorial Fountain, a gift from France. Also attached is the ANZAC (ANZAC stands for Australian and New Zealand Army Corps) memorial, which can be found in every city and commemorates the fallen soldiers in the world wars.

Queen Victoria Building

The building was opened in 1898 and is still very well preserved today. The various shops and restaurants invite you to shop and linger. An experience, the floors, windows you have to see.

Sydney Tower Eye

The tower is a little more than 300m high and has a platform at 250m with great views of the whole of Sydney. We have booked the SKYWALK + OBSERVATION DECK. There is an exaggerated emphasis on safety, there must be a lot of weirdos? So we have to empty our pockets and are scanned like at the airport, then we are put into a rappel set and are allowed to put on a jumpsuit that is closed at the back, additionally secured with cable ties. Now we start, there is now a guide on the rope, which is inserted into the rail. Finally we are allowed to go out. No windows obscure the view. Unfortunately, you are not allowed to take anything with you, so they offer a photo session. There are two platforms with transparent floors. We touch the red lettering of Westfield, which is supposed to bring luck, it can’t hurt. The sunset concludes the experience.

Elements Steak House

Woolloomooloo is the name of the area where the Finger Wharf with its restaurants and apartments is located. At the very front lives Russell Crowe, but he wasn’t there, so we decided to go to the Elements. Today is Friday, so we have a steak again. And yes, we deserve the Negroni. In the big cities you run your feet flat without noticing it, it was over 11 km or 17,000 steps today.
