Edith Falls, Nitmiluk National Park and Bitter Springs

After a good night, we are already on the road again at 9 a.m. on the B21, the Kakadu Hwy to Pine Creek. Past large termite mounds. A short stop at Bukbukluk, unfortunately without Bukbuk, but a nice look over the vastness of the area. Once refueled in Pine Creek and continued on the Hwy1 towards Katherine to Nitmiluk National Park and Edith Falls. The swim in the pools of the Elisabeth Falls is wonderfully refreshing. We also got pool noodles, which are super practical to drift around. With a beer we let the sun set in front of our caravan.

Bye bye Kakadoo National Park

The park really has a lot to offer, we saw so much. Thank you very much.

Bukbukluk and the drive to Nimiluk

Edith Falls

Nitmiluk Gorge

We drive past Katherine and arrive in Nitmiluk George after an hour. Here we take a boat trip on the Katherine River or Nitmiluk Gorge. Everything here must also have the name of the Aborigines. The gorge with the high limestone cliffs is imposing. But it is very impressive that in the rainy season the water level is more than 7 meters higher. Halfway through the trip we have to get out and walk a few 100 meters to the next boat and then back again. Except for a freshwater crocodile and a few crows, we didn’t see any animals. It’s probably too hot for them like us.

Cutta Cutta Caves

After a very warm night we continue to Katherine, here there is a large Woolworths and we can buy some small things. A short stop at the laundromat. Everything is clean again and we can drive on. On the way we pass the Cutta Cutta Caves, limestone caves that are worth seeing.

Bitter Springs

Here it has warm springs and you can float in the river. The water has pleasant
34 °C, it’s warmer outside. We enjoy it and let it drift twice.

In the morning we leave early and do some shopping in Katherine for the rest of the trip, after 350 km we reach Batchelor, the starting point for exploring the Litchfield National Park. The internet connections are rather slow or unusable for uploading pictures, so the contributions are only available if the access is reasonably stable.
