Now we have arrived

So far it felt like a long vacation, we were still traveling with our luggage. Of course we have already bought a lot and it felt very good that way. But now that all our things are there, it feels like home.
But first things first, we were at customs on Wednesday and nothing was clear yet. Yes, the ship will probably arrive today and then it will take a week until they deliver, was the tenor of the question when the eagerly awaited container will come. Well, late Friday afternoon the phone rang, it was the import manager’s turn, and explained to us that they would deliver the container tomorrow at 09:00 a.m. Joy reigns! That has changed slightly. At 10:40 a.m. the time had come, the small semitrailer truck brings our 20 foot container directly in front of the house. A long journey comes to an end. Packed seaworthy in Tuggen, transported to Schlieren in the warehouse and stored for a year, then loaded into the container, sent to Rotterdam and from there shipped by container ship to Port Louis, customs cleared and loaded onto the semi-trailer and carried into the house. And poof, after about 9 weeks, the trip was over.
What a moment, Markus had to compare the serial number of the seal with the papers and then rattle away with the thing and sesame open!
So there it is, everything we own.
Yay, Sylvia’s sewing machines, a really big TV, the Big Green Egg, everything Markus needs for cooking. The exercise bike, well, we didn’t really miss it.
Quickly broke away the wedged slats to lock the goods with the goat’s foot and off we go with the living room cabinet. Sylvia had the task of unchecking the 106 packages and calling out to the movers in which room the goods would go. After a good 2.5 hours, everything was put in the right place and freed from the protective foils. The forwarding companies did a great job, everything arrived safely. We started to unpack and found that everything is still in the same condition as we packed it. How great is that, we are very happy. Many thanks to Mr. Naumann from Swiss Moving Service AG and the local forwarding company SDI for the professional handling. Now there is a lot of work until everything is unpacked and supplied again. But we have time.
