The hotel wasn’t really great, but the room and the bed were clean and absolutely ok. We are only here to sleep anyway, because it leaves at 8:30 a.m . Mr. Sun Yi picks us up and we drive to the garden “Fish look at the flower bay” it is located on the West Lake.
Mr. Sun Yi is retired but is still regularly asked to be a German tour guide. He only makes small groups, so we were lucky again. The beautiful garden holds very dreamy views over the lake, gates, stones, bonsai, azalea bushes, weeping willows, whatever the heart desires… and suddenly we are already at the pier for the boat trip. The pleasant ride on the 6km2 Westlake takes 25 minutes. We walk back in the park, it fills up more and more with people.
Markus sees dough lying on a board that is baked in a tandoori-like oven. So we try the flatbread.
Afterwards we get off at the Lingyin Temple, one of the oldest and most important Buddhist temples in China. According to tradition, the rock on which the temple was built is the peak flown through the air from the homeland of Huili. 470 figures were carved into the limestone. Also the smiling Buddha, the Maitreya statue. There are far too many people and it rains a lot. You can only see umbrellas, we break off the visit here.
Past tea plantations we drive to the 6 Harmonie Pagoda Liuhe. The four cardinal directions as well as heaven and earth give the name. From up there you have a good view of the city and the wide river. The bridge was the first to be planned and built by Chinese hands in 1937. The pagoda has a height of almost 60 meters and was first built in 970. Now a coffee and a very interesting conversation with Mr. Sun Yi before we go to the airport.
The flight to Guilin was delayed, airport we can upload photos there you can write posts, because it is usually very fast there. You don’t know where Guilin is? Neither do we… somewhere in the middle of China
Our hotel in Guilin deserves the name, Bravo Hotel is like from another time, but like us still in good shape. We stroll along the river which is so beautifully kitschy lit and just in front of the hotel there is something about pub… Zack two gin and tonic later we fall into bed.
